This is the preliminary display of the Bugerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) genome produced by the Washington University School of Medicine. The genome is 2.8gb in length; composed of 70,862 contigs with an N50 value of 55.6kb and 25,211 scaffolds with an N50 value of 11.2Mb.
What can I find? Protein-coding and non-coding genes, splice variants, cDNA and protein sequences, non-coding RNAs.
Preliminary gene annotation in budgerigar was generated by aligning budgerigar proteins from Uniprot.We made 78 models from 168 proteins. We also aligned Ensembl proteins from human, zebrafinch and chicken using release 66; 7,210, 14,026 and 11,359 gene models with at least 80% coverage were predicted respectively. In addition to preliminary gene predictions, ab initio gene predictions and alignment of sequences from several public databases (e.g. UniGene, EMBL Vertebrate RNA, UniProt) are available. Please note that the gene predictions shown here do not represent the final Ensembl gene set. These preliminary gene models will undergo further analyses, such as filtering and post-processing, before the gene set is finalised and released on our main website.
